Stuart Michael Hooper, loving and devoted Husband, Son, Brother and Uncle sadly passed away on 25th May 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a trusted and loyal friend to many and a lifelong Sunderland fan.
Born in Southport on 13th November 1988 to parents Michael and Denise and younger brother to sister Dawn. Stuart attended Shoreside Primary School followed by Merchant Taylor’s School, Liverpool where he was equally well accomplished academically and on the sports field . Stuart played football and cricket to an accomplished level representing Marine AFC, Wigan Athletic and the Northern Club respectively.
Stuart furthered his academic studies at the University of Nottingham, graduating with honours in Civil Engineering, Stuart was a sociable student who made many lifelong friends and many more memories.
Stuart subsequently studied for an MSc in Structural Engineering at Salford University during which time he also worked at Bar Mio, Ainsdale where he met and worked with his future wife, Jade.
Having graduated with an MSc from Salford, Stuart began his career as a Structural Engineer at Severfield in Bolton where he quickly acquired an impressive portfolio of projects which included an extension to Manchester City’s stadium, London’s Cheese Grater sky scraper, Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium and the latest stand at Anfield.
During this time, Stuart’s relationship with Jade blossomed. Living at the family home in Ainsdale, Jade became an ever increasing fixture until the pair moved to their first house in Aughton in June 2017. The pair were quickly joined by kittens Bob and Kevin whom Stuart adored.
In December 2017, Stuart successfully qualified as a Chartered Civil Engineer through the Institution of Civil Engineers, accomplishing what had been a long held ambition.
Stuart maintained his interest and participation in football. Having joined Liverpool Ramblers AFC, Stuart was rapidly promoted to club captain where his infectious character made him a firm favourite within the club.
In early 2018, Stuart was diagnosed with a rare form of Ewing’s Sarcoma. Stuart remained brave and resolute throughout surgery and treatment including a long period of time at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
On 31st July, 2019 on a visit to his beloved Lake District, Stuart proposed to Jade. They married a few weeks later in August at St John’s Church, Ainsdale surrounded by family and friends.
For the remainder of 2019 and into 2020 Stuart continued to astound his close friends and family with his unrelenting bravery in the face of his illness. During this time he was cared for repeatedly at the Queenscourt Hospice in Southport, an organisation who’s care and catering he failed to fault.
Stuart passed away peacefully, surrounded by his close family on 25th May 2020. He leaves behind his wife Jade, parents Michael and Denise, sister Dawn, nephew Owen and nieces Lottie and Esme as well as his much loved in laws Tony and Nicky, Caitlin, Olivia, Daniel, Becky and Jac. Stuart will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
